Currently holding the rank of 4th degree (Dan) through Lees Taekwondo and Kukkiwon headquarters in Seoul, Korea, Master Rhyne began his Taekwondo journey in 1995 at Lee's Taekwondo in Mesquite, TX, under the tutelage of Master Dong Sop Lee and Grand Master Chang Lee. Grand Master Chang Lee is recognized as one of the founding fathers of Taekwondo in Texas, having trained Korean Rock soldiers and later taught U.S. Air Force cadets upon his relocation to the United States in 1974.
With hard work and dedication, Daryl earned a spot on the Texas Team and represented them at the Korean Friendship Games in Seoul, Korea in 1998, while also achieving the rank of Black belt in the same year. He continued to excel in State, National, and International tournaments until 2000, competing in events such as the Techno Cup and Mexico Friendship Games.
In 1999, Daryl and his wife Mandi founded Chang Lee's Martial Arts Center (now Pro Taekwondo), where he spent the next two decades producing hundreds of high-quality black belts. In addition to his personal achievements, Daryl's passion for Taekwondo extended to coaching and leadership roles. Since 1999, he has coached hundreds of successful athletes of all belt levels at State, National, and International tournaments, and in 2008, he coached his wife Mandi to a National Championship. In 2012, Daryl also guided an athlete to a 3rd place finish at National championships and another athlete at the 2012 U.S. Team trials.
Daryl's contributions to the Taekwondo community were further highlighted by his service on the board of representatives for the Texas State Taekwondo Association from 2012 to 2017, followed by his appointment as Vice President of the organization in 2017. Through his dedication and commitment to Taekwondo over the past 30 years, Daryl has achieved remarkable success as both a practitioner and coach, producing hundreds of accomplished black belts during his career.
I love Pro Taekwondo. The instructors are incredibly hardworking and honest people, and they put a lot of effort into helping and interacting with the kids.
